Supply Chain of CO₂ Emissions

In international policy frameworks such as the Kyoto Protocol, responsibility for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions is typically assigned to the country where emissions are produced (i.e. where the fuels are burned), even though fuels may have been extracted elsewhere and may be used to produce goods and services for consumers elsewhere. This interactive visualization presents research by Davis et al. to show the relative contribution of each country based on CO₂ emissions associated with: a) fuel extraction; b) fuel combustions; and c) goods and services consumed.
